1953 M38A1 Willys Military Jeep

1953 first generation M38A1 military Jeep. This is a very complete and correct military Jeep. 36,000 original miles. Frame off restoration took two years to complete, including engine/transmission rebuild, new wire harness, brakes, shocks, seats, seals, hoses, radiator, new tires, and more. Includes correct AN/GRR-5 Radio Receiver.


M38A1’s were produced between 1952 and 1957. This was the first appearance of the ’round-fender’ Jeep, and was the origin for eventual production of the CJ5. First Generation model year deliveries were from initial production in1952 through October/November 1953. Attributes of first generation deliveries included: 8 thumb screws for the battery box, hinged front grill, front fender seams, and a shorter bumper width. The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York purchased a 1952 Willys M38A1 for their permanent collection of significant vehicles, describing it as the best jeep ever built.
